Discover the ancient varieties of DOC wines like Ottavianello, Impigno, Francavidda through an exquisite wine tasting in a small vineyard located close to Ostuni.
The tour takes place in a 19th-century structure managed by a family of olive growers for three generations, combining the love for hospitality and the love for the land and agriculture. The hypogeum oil mill dating back to the Middle Ages and the monumental millenary olive trees are an extraordinarily beautiful testimony to the Apulian peasant civilisation, which has been dedicated to olive cultivation and oil production for millennia.
Since 2013, the farmhouse has started its own wine production, building a vault in its suggestive underground oil mill for the “Metodo Classico” sparkling wine, a method consisting in the induction of the refermentation of bottled wines through the introduction of sugars and selected yeasts.
“From the past to the future”: You will be guided on a walk through the vineyards of Ottavianello and Bianco Ostuni DOC, making you take a space-time leap into the Middle Ages inside the underground oil mill, and, in the end, you will be refreshed with an aperitif dedicated to several wines.
You will get an inside of the rediscovery of rare vines, i.e., Ottavianello, Impigno, Francavidda, flanked by a small but careful production, of Minutolo, Susumaniello and Notardomenico.
